Architect Alessandro Mendini was born in Milan. He directed the \u201cCasabella\u201d, \u201cModo\u201d and \u201cDomus\u201d magazines. Monographs on his work and on his professional contribution to the Studio Alchimia have been published in various languages. He created objects, furniture, environments, paintings, installations and architectural projects. He collaborated with international companies and was a consultant to various industries in Europe and the Far East, setting up their image and design endeavours. He is an honorary member of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. In 1979 and 1981, he was awarded the \u201cCompasso d’Oro\u201d for design, and was made \u201cChevalier des Arts et des Lettres\u201d in France; he was awarded honours by the Architectural League of New York and received an Honorary Degree from Milan\u2019s Politecnico and from the \u00c9cole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure de Cachan in France. He is an honorary professor at the Guangzhou Academy of fine Arts in China. His creations are featured in various museums and private collections.
