It was 1970 when Joe Colombo developed the Multichair, destined to become a timeless icon of Italian design.
The Milanese designer’s intention was to conjugate aesthetics and functionality, creating a product that would prove to be practical, multi-purpose, mobile and transformable. His concept of modularity, understood to be an invention that takes shape according to designated use and contingent requirements, takes the form of direct interaction with the user, a form reflected in the object itself and that gives it meaning.
Hyper-transformable and multi-functional, the Multichair consists of two upholstered elements that can also be used separately. It comfortably adapts to a wide range of settings, becoming a simple chair, a conversation seat or one in which to relax thanks to the belts, featured on the sides of the cushions, that can be arranged in different positions. Quizzical and well balanced, its dual soul, serious and pop, is a perfect combination for unconventional or formal contexts.
